Perspective of this corner area of the fence is so unique - the wires at a 45 degree angle provide direction to take my eye along. Your choice of b&w for this shot puts a comfortable vintage flavor on the scene and the reflection tops it off perfectly.

The gate to nowhere... I like your b&w composition with the strong contrast in toning between that of the near silhouetted line of the fencing and gate and the lightness of the water (really serves to anchor the gate in my mind). There is something about the picture that is very familiar but I just cannot put my finger on just what it is... perhaps it will come to me.

Well if you take raw files then you can always change it back to colour or change the B+W settings in NX2 because the image it takes is colour regardless of what set the camera to take.
This method works for you so no reason to change.
It is a little too centered for my taste but there is some "weight to the left from the fence line. I still favour a crop from the top to just above the LH fence wire.
All subjective of course so an excellent image either way.

Very well seen and captured. Good tones in this B&W shot.
