I like the contrast here between the lightness of the storm clouds and the more darkened hues of the cactus and the landscape. One really has a sense that the clouds are going to explode and drop a load of water on your head.

This is a splendid scene. Well exposed. I think you might have made a more classic composition by taking a dozen steps left, moving the tree off toward to edge of the frame (rule of thirds). A bit of boost to contrast in the mountains in the background might be done too. Those clouds really add a lot to the scene.

Lynne, I agree ... the stormy weather did give a great feel to this capture. The lone tree looks like it's going to become engulfed by those clouds. Nicely done.

Lynne .. just wonderful,perfect exposure and that foreboding sky just makes it for me .. just a little nit ... the tree (for me ) is too central , still a fine piece of work though

Looks like my front yard :-) You really caught the dramatic skty nicely and the detauil in the Joshuas is good too!
