The summit of the ski hill at the Lodge on Mount Baker----crisp and cold----I have added a little detail here on Topaz but sparingly, the filter is good if used cautiously---too much and things start to look unreal----

I like the end result you achieved with the effects that you made use of... a painterly feel to my eye with the lodge standing out quite strongly in the image framed by white snow and green trees. I would imagine that the lighting that you had available to you probably played into the effectiveness of the Topaz filter.

You are so right about using the filter and doing it in an amount that fits. Well you did it so it fits like a glove. A most gorgeous and magically captured wonderful snow covered wilderness area. You've composed this so perfectly with the lodge tucked into the perfect "sweet spot" of the rule of thirds.

If I can comment on my own image, now looking at it here--I have still overdone it with the filter---the problem being I think with oversharpening----this Topaz 4 seems to oversharpen when you ask for details---this really is trial and error---I will get there---sorry---lynne

Cautiously.....too much and things start to look unreal............
I have to agree with your statement for sure. But this to me is excellent.
I would also love to be able to go to this lodge and do some skiing or some cross country skiing. Nice comp and gorgeous.

Lynne, Hi:

Beautifully presented winter scene. I like your work with Topaz and your willingness to be artistic - I would love to attempt to ski at this beautiful place - might be a little out of my league, however.

Beautifully Done

Hi Lynne.
Yes obvious overdone. Sharpening pictures with a lot of leaves od sand in it, shows quickly that kind of noise.
Now it looks if there is frost on the trees, and maybe there was ?
Imo it can use a bit of more shadow/ contrast aswell, that will make a picture already looks sharper too.
Cheers, Jan

I kind of like it a bit 'oversharpened' Lynne. It seems as though I can see each indivdual tree. And it had just a bit of a graphic feel and look to it. Well done!
