This was a photograph that I had been hoping for over a few years of taking pictures during the running of Manitoba Marathon. I had started walking back from the 19 mile post at the Marathon... first to take pictures of the leaders (at mile 19 two guys were running shoulder to shoulder and at the end of the marathon there was only 14 seconds between first and second place at just over 2 hours and 27 minutes) and then to find various locations along the route to take pictures of the various runners. I just made it to the Norwood Bridge with the racers coming up the slope of the bridge when the CN train came across the background bridge and still further back was the apartment block where I live... not
the best picture I took that day but the picture that I liked the most because it had action, trains with my apartment block anchoring the

In CS3 I used the shadow highlight function (50,5,20).

Hello Jan,
A very well build up (and unusual) picture, with the 3 vertical levels.
The clearness of it is perfect.!
The runners in front, showing their different emotions.
Is your apartment the one with the fancy roof ?
Congratulations with this excellent result.
Cheers, Jan

Jan, Hi:

I like your Daily Life Image and your action of the race. I can tell you from experience an uphill at mile 19 can really be stressful for the runners.

Many things to see within your image and interesting to see your apartment building, as well.

I like that this places us in your environs to experience some of the things you do on a daily basis. Lots to explore here, especially in the full size image. I like it, Jan.

Fantastic Jan! What a great combination of city architecture, transportation, and determined human beings making their mark on their world! The 'mood' was well captured in the expressions of the runners, and your timing was impeccable. (Nice to see your digs too.) Very well done!

You can see the look of "gritty" determination in the lead - center runner here..
He's competing against younger athletes on each side..I like it.
Nice timing on that train as well Smile
