I like the manner in which you captured the head and the blue neck of the peacock set against its patterned tail (the contrast between the two brings a sense of depth to the picture), the clarity of detailing and the range of colors and patterning to be found on the peacock's form. Well seen and well captured!

The secret is to make sure you are photographing their best side.
A good result here just slightly over-exposed. If you increase the midtone contrast in levels you will find a lot more textural detail and colour in the feathers.
Welcome to PC.

Hi Amy! and a warm welcome to PC.
It's possible that i may be just a teensy bit biased in my comment here since you are my niece I think this is a lovely phtograph of the Peacock, nice and sharp with plenty of detail and considering you've only had a camera for a few months i see great potential. A very good first post and i look forward to seeing more.

Wow - this is terrific Amy! The large image showed so much detail! It could have been a tad darker, but still wonderful as is. Nice composition too. I think you're going to be giving a certain relative a run for his money! A big welcome to PC!! Pat

Well first and foremost a very warm welcome to Perfectly Captured.
These are not small birds so if he was angry with you you were very brave indeed.
What a truly delightful first image to post, your detail is wonderfully sharp here and the lighting just perfect to pick out his beautiful colours, your angle for the shot is also just right, very well done here is a lovely shot and I look forward to seeing more of your work. I understand you have a superb tutor
Thank you for posting
kind regards Helen
