I just find it strange that after 30+years of living on the Canadian Prairies the West Coast still has a strong pull emotionally on me. I thought I would pull out an image from the past when I was in Vancouver, driving around Stanley Park and shooting some images of the Vancouver skyline. Captures the sense of the city for me with the skyline, the sailboats at anchor, and, of course, the geese in the foreground. When the days of winter on the Canadian Prairies seem to stretch on forever one just to take something like this to remember that there really is another side to Canada and it isn't just an endless vista of sun covered locales with everyone longing to be in south Florida sending postcards back home.

I did not really keep very accurate records of the images taken at the time and so I cannot tell if I used a filter on this image, or not but I rather strongly feel since I was using Cokin filters to excess at the time I probably did use one.

Taken November 15, 1996.

Your composition, and the placement of all the objects specifically, makes for quite a wonderful image.
Thanks,

I guess today is a day to trip down Memory Lane :-) I too went into the archives to post a photo of where I used to live :-)
I like the unusual light here and such a nice scene including the ripples in the water and the geese! Very nice work !

Hello Jan.
Love to read your story, thanks for that.
This is a very nice picture from the past. Good use of the warm colours, which I sometimes use in Picasa too.
Nice presentation with the border.

Nicely composed Jan, the almost monotone colouring works well and the detail superb,
