The award winning Eden Project in Cornwall, attracting a million plus visitors each year to its biomes indicative of sweltering rainforests of Malaysia and South America to the temperate regions of the Mediterranean (www.edenproject.com) .

In earlier times, Cornwall, in SW UK was very much a mining region. The Cornish pasties, pastry with a hearty meat filling were designed for the miners to take below for their lunches.

This site was an abandoned open pit that was developed into these biodomes. The project has been hugely successful and has done a lot to revive the economy of Cornwall.

Cornwall is one of my favourite places in the UK.
This shot is of the entrance to the biodomes in early spring. Lots of sun of those domes and I didn’t have a filter.

Interesting how the economy of Cornwall has been revived from the days of mining to the present day tourism. I would much rather to see the Eden Project than open mine pits any day of the week.

Interesting looking structure the bio-dome making one want to walk down the pathway we see and go inside to see the foliage of the rain forests of Malaysia and South America and of the temperate regions of the Mediterranean region.
