Taken last year at the Sagradia Familia in Barcelona. The building is a photographers dream and nightmare all in one - so many interesting things to see and shoot, so many pieces of scaffolding and people to get in the way! Plus a whole host of angles and windows making judging the light really hard.

This is detail from the main front door, which loads of people went through but seemingly few seemed to stop and actually look at the workmanship that had gone into it

I think in this case, the uneven lighting made for a more interesting image. Lots of different tones and textures here. I think the choice of monochrome is right too.
Barcelona is somewhere I've yet to visit (apart from 50 years ago on a school journey). I'm not sure how I'd feel about the mix of quirky, modern and traditional architecture but I think it's somewhere one should visit with an open mind.

I like your b&w treatment augmented by the bordering which works to give a clean finished feel to the picture.

The interplay of light and shadows on the lettering works to enhance the textural feel from what I take to be a wooden door.

The door is carved out of two huge pieces of stone (you can see the tool marks on some of the letters). The shot isn't in b&w, its just the lighting and the colour of the stone (towards the top you can make out some slightly purple hues)

I love your exposure and how you took advantage of the lighting. The DOF is so intense with superb details throughout. What language is this written in?

HI Mark, fantastic detail...pictures not bad either! Nice and sharp, the textures you have captured in this light make it look like weathered bleached wood. Thanks.
Have a good weekend
best wishes

Very interesting shot, lots of texture and detail. My one visit there stands out in my memory and I only regret that I had yet to discover photography when I was there! Would love to see more shots of this wonderful place.

Like the 3D look with this light play, great sense of depth.
Well done!
