On the west side of Rochester Cathedral. I'd gone hoping to photograph the interior after checking their website that no special services were being held. Unfortunately when I arrived a rehearsal fro a ceremony the following day was about to start involving Guides (girl scouts) which made it necessary for me to be careful where I pointed my camera. However I did discover this peaceful haven of beautiful gardens encompassed by the old monastic cloisters.

I like the brightness of the green grass which serves to focus the attention of the viewer while the surrounding foliage and the monastery itself serve as a strong framing for that green grass. I feel myself being drawn towards the distant bench under the tree... the setting just seems like a place that could serve as an antidote for a hectic day.

Looks like an advert for an english summer afternoon! Slightly sad though to hear that you felt constrained as to where you could photograph due to children being present - a sad indictment of our society nowadays that anyone with a camera pointed towards children is somehow seen as suspect......

The Nikon experience continues Vic. I am impressed with the D700 images seen thus far and the detail and colour in this one is superb,
Dave
