I like your perspective shooting seemingly from the head level of the female cardinal. The orange bill and the catchlight in her eye helps to focus the attention of the viewer on the reclining bird with the contrast between the darker colors of the cardinal set against the lighter green background foliage serving to make the visible portions of the cardinal stand out strongly in the image.
