Bank holiday monday, air show at Southend, weather had been wonderful on the Sunday, so it just had to be poor when I went!

First time going to the airshow at Southend, one of the many free to view airshows put on at various seaside locations around the UK. Unfortunately I didn't choose a good place to shoot from for the planes, will learn for next year, but it did enable me to get this shot of the wing walkers flying over the fun fair.

Levels, saturation and just about everything else tweaked in order to compensate for the grey light.

Hello Mark.
Very nice looking picture is the result.!
Fun in the air and on the ground.
imo, only a little better vertical, had make it stronger.
Easy to do in Picasa.com (free)
Best regards, Jan

I like the combination of the planes and the carnival (one has the feel that the planes are another ride as they fly low over the rides), the contrast between the background sky and the foreground rides and planes which works to give a 3D feel to the image and just the nature of the planes (I just noticed the wingwalkers on the wings of the two planes).

I always have that problem of trying to get a good location for a shot and then discovering that somewhere else would be much better except now that other location is full of people.

Hi, Mark, and I LOVE THAT YOU'VE CAPTURED the Wing walkers. How exciting is that!!! Your capture is so crisp with super defined details. I love it just the way it is...so much to explore.

I have lots of pictures of these wing walkers from the Margate airshows but nothing that has so much interest or as great a point of view as this. Much Kudos to you for including the fairground which gives the planes more "movement" and scale. A really excellent image.
I also think that with slightly more careful pp this could be a competition winner. Great work Mark.

Really cool shot of the wing-walkers, with the colorful fairground making it great Smile
Well done!

An absolutely brilliant shot, Mark. I agree with VJC that it would benefit from further pp - it offers such potentially vivid colours and contrast that, reworked,it would fair leap from the screen. It has the look of a classic Marvel comic book scene with the planes sweeping in, wing walkers to the rescue:))
