The sepia toning, the scruffy look of his garment and just the look of the man period really serves to create the sense of a photograph taken at the time of the time of Civil War. Probably more so than the previous individual where the sense of the time period of the Civil War is slightly offset by the glasses that the man is wearing (just looks too modern).

Excellent portrait, good use of light & shadow. Great model, he seems to personify the time period perfectly..He has the look of war in that determined expression.
Well done!!

I just love this self portrait Vic, obviously when you were a lot younger of course. You still have that mean eye though .. just swallowed my tongue now

Hi Vic, great shot, well composed and exposed, good detail in the shadow under the hat brim and the one eye looking out. Sepia very effective and evocative...could be a genuine old picture. Nice one.
Thanks

This is a superb portrait - a great tilt to his head, nice sharp details and a topic which suits the sepia effect down to a tee! Great stuff!
Cheers....Mark

Magnificent details on this capture - he looks just like one of the members of the waring folklore families of the Hatfields or the McCoys.
