Lovely composition but (I am guessing) taken around midday or middle afternoon, the light is very harsh and contrasty, this is were a CP filter would have worked well to remove the glare from the water and foliage. A ND filter would IMO not worked as well as a CP (circular polarizer)

A scene to gladden the heart of any photographer and have them rushing for their camera. Well composed and exposed but the high sun and contrast worked against you here. As mick says this is one occasion when a CP would reduce reflected glare from the water (same goes for woodland scenes after rain too). However the filter would not put detail into the shadows although NX2 for Nikon owners or the Vivezza plugin for PS users would alleviate some of those problems.
Still a very nice picture.

What a beautiful scene Helen - just my kind of shot. The chaps above have given advice on the lighting, for me personally I would clone out the cars - I'm drawn straight to the white car in the centre of the image.
Still a beautiful view and worth stopping the car for!!
Thanks Paula

Lovely view. When new to photography in 2003, we visited our daughter and son-in-law in England. Driving through the Cotswolds, I did the same as you-- stop the car! The first few times, I nearly panicked the driver. Still, we passed many scenes without stopping, unable to bring myself to ask for a pullover along single track roads.

Helen, Hi:
A beautiful location that you have composed wonderfully and inpressively presented. You have received wonderfully helpful hints for yourself and all of us to learn from and that is great.
Very Well Seen and Presented.
Larry
Like Steve - I find so many images, in the UK, while riding in the car and always on the narrowest roadway. Have not had the nerve to get an International Drivers License yet.

Well composed shot, Helen. Just tone down the brightness a tad. Also seems like this is tilted so you might straighten it a little.

As is the case most of the time your two countrymen at the top are experts in travel and scene photography. They have a better feel by accident that I have in all of my experience. I love the shot and the possibility of the same image in late afternoon when the sun and color would do more to your advantage.

Quite possibly part of an old mill Helen. Even though the angle and the time of day were against you the image is still well composed and most fitting for the theme,

Hi Helen,
Looks like you had a great time in Wales! You did quite well here considering the conditions, i think i'd have taken a bracketed set of shots, one at this setting and two more underexposed to avoid the slight burn out on the water and then mix the best bits of each in the final image, and yes, a polariser would have helped! Also, i would be tempted to clone out the white car above the balcony and perhaps the other two as well.
Still a nice image as is though and i can see why you pestered your dad to stop for this one
Regards
Vic.
