...... oop north! Actually Leicestershire is in the Midlands but to we southerners anything north of the Watford Gap is almost another country where the natives speak strange dialects that are almost unintelligible to those of us who speak proper English. They say things like - "ee' ba gumm" and "goin dahn t'pit". When I visit Mick I take an interpreter. If I could speak the dialect I would ask him to tell us where I took this ('e were in't pub at t'end).
For our American friends, Leicestershire is pronounced Lestershire.) There is already enough ces in Leicestershire. Same goes for Worcestershire - forget the ce.

A vintage feel created by the toning and the nature of the setting... quite taken by the reflective quality of the water in the canal also.

We've had a couple of series here in Canada on the History Channel showing the development of industry through the centuries in England... when one looks at some of the practices in the past in the creation of various products it is a wonder that anyone survived to pass away naturally. I cannot remember the name of the particular series but the narrator would work through the practices by involving himself in the actual work... interesting and I hope it returns again.

Mountsorrel you southern softie ...the place where all the granite was taken from to make roads. It has been quarried from here for over 200 years and in the village there used to be 30 pubs but now, with mechanisation less man power is required so the pubs closed .. there are about 3 now. The canals moved the granite till the railways arrived , there is a spur line from the quarry to the main line that is being restored as we speak. The pictures not bad either Smile

Nicely captured Vic. I would love to travle the canals of that country of yours. Clear in detail and lots to look at,
Dave
