Pull open the gate and invite us along for hike into the English countryside.
The view over, through, the fencing is inviting and for yourself there are good companions to share the hike with.
Captures the theme of the week perfectly in my mind... the long and winging pathway.

There are photographs that make me moan with pleasure. They are usually absolutely stunning scenes rather than this family snapshot (and I mean that in a good way- one meant to preserve a moment). The two times I visited England, I was enchanted by the public pathways that abounded, even in the towns, wanting to just strike out and head across country. Of course, that was unrealistic, especially the second visit when I was still recovering from my broken leg. This has that pleasant quality with the Lake District in the background on a misty day, making me want to walk through the scene and onto the headlines in the distance.

Yes, as Steve says rather than just a record shot of a family hike this image brings you in and makes you want to be part of it---I am crossing the stiles, treading the bracken---I can feel the damp mist and need hot chocolate just viewing it----nice one Vic----Lynne

Hi Vic,
Although I'm not really a "people picture" person, this one has a nice "capture the moment" feel to it, and the spectacular English country scenery is just that, spectacular.
Excellent composition, color and DOF. Nicely done.
Thanks,
Wilt

Oh that D200 ... perfect and realistic colours , people sometimes do add to a landscapes and it works very well here, the damp cold atmosphere come through very well and is emphasized by the clothing worn by the subjects.I really do like this one (grit grit)

A good hike ahead of you. Cumbria is a beautiful place and I wish I had more time there. A good idea to include the family members in your shot.
