I like the layering in this image... first with the darkened trees in the foreground followed by the green foliage overtopped by the autumnal toning of the trees further up the slope. I also like the contrast between the darkened trees in the foreground and the colors of the foliage further up the slope... serves to create a sense of depth in the picture.
The darkened foliage at the bottom of the image creates the visual illusion of a wave sweeping ashore.

This really tells us fall is coming---the colours and tones, the layers one behind the other really make this image pop----at first glance you think maybe it is somewhere exotic----and so being local to you makes it even more compelling as an image---we do not have to travel around the world necessarily to get good photo ops. they can be all around us if we just keep our eyes and minds open---really well thought out and composed-----Lynne

The pastel colours of the houses intermingled with wonderful Autumnal tones make an excellent image.
I feel this needs the slightest of crops but feel free to call me daft for suggesting such a minor change. At the very top right a house with a red roof - my suggestion - crop down only to remove the red roof. That also removes a white building on the far left. It just seems a better comp to me - but like I said, I'm probably having a senior moment.

I like the great variance of colours here and with the house roofs interspersed within the foliage it does make for a very pleasant capture.

I like how the color variations of Autumn and homes combine, with the water bottom giving a good sense of "place".
Well done!

Who would want to call you daft Vic? It`s a valid point.....but daft mate...Ha ha!! How many senior moments are we allowed each year? Any way that`s one for you ha ha!!...Ok this is a charming pic. for me, may be the rubbish in the water could be erased or removed? It`s all been said about the layers of colour etc. A very pleasing pic.....Charlie.

Charlie by rubbish if you mean that reddish looking box then that is part of the dredging pipework. If you mean the flecks in the water then that is water movement, approximately 2000 cumecs per second or cubic metres per second. Winter storms had flooded the South Esk which flows into the estuary to left of frame.

Thanks for putting me right re the dredging pipework David. I looked long and hard at it and just could not make it out. So what does this piece of pipework (in the picture) do?

The perspective is so compelling. It takes my eye up over the framing bushes at the gottom and up to the brilliant red/orange trees to explore more and more. Perfectly composed - especially love the veil of fog that entices me to search for more here.
