The clarity of detailing and the contrast between the individual suiting up for combat and the background bokeh work to create a fine portraiture but that sneer on his lips (weak as you say) really puts one in mind of a character from a Monty Python skit.

the witch turned me in to a newt! but I got better! as Lynne Mick & Jan have said he looks like a bit player from the Holy Grail nice image for all that but I would expect a better sneer then that
