I am going back over old images---this was from the Devon Cornwall trip---I think if I remember correctly Morwellan Quay was just over the border into Cornwall----it is a reproduced fishing village----I just love Britain for photography---so much there to see and get images of---I guess it's a case of the grass is always greener on the other side, as I know B.C. Canada does have it's stunning beauty----this was not an easy one, as I had a lot of shadows and highlights and I have had to crop in real tight---it also looks far better imo in black and white than in the white and yellow colour it was---lynne

I find the content of your image of the desk, chalkboard and the other elements from a classroom of old really brings back memories for me... especially the writing on the chalkboard and the lettering on the board on the left. I still remember learning how to write following the repetitive exercises (both on the blackboard and the exercise books we had at the time I was in my early grades) and became so adept at writing early on that it was used as an example of what good writing should be... I'd be lucky if I could write a complete sentence nowadays that could be recognized by any living human.

Thanks for the memories Lynne.

A step back in time, there are not many youngsters who can write well these days. Your image has been handled very well, nice work.

I like it in B+W too. I'd kinda like to see the legs on the ground but you did say you were forced to crop tightly and it is a good result.
My Grandmother although only a lowly weaver for Courtaulds in Essex, was taught to write this way as were all her generation. She could write like that until she died aged 98. When you consider that most children had left school to begin work between the ages of 10 and 12 it is amazing they could write this well.

I do really like this one Lynne .. you have such a good eye .. the B/W tones are spot on as is the composition. The writing is gorgeous and the textures on the wall show you had a spot on exposure ..

Good capture Lynne, black and white does suit this so well. I was born in 1948 and was taught to write this way myself, and I can assure you that colour had not been invented back then even real life was in black and white which made it really easy when choosing clothes - shall I wear the white one, the black one or the grey one? ;o)
