Gha-an - you just flipped the last pic.
Amazing iridescence from those tiny wings and excellent detail in the compound eye.
I've tried that washing procedure - the wife wasn't too keen.

The clarity of detailing, the contrast between the fly and the background and your comments to explain what the fly is doing blowing bubbles brings the image to life for me.
Just checked the price locally for this particular lens and today it is going for 635 pounds. If I see too many more of your photographs with this lens I think I know what I will be getting as a gift for myself in the New Year.

Yup, I put it on my "wish list", along with a rack and ring flash; after all Christmas is coming and everyone at home always asks.....
This small world stuff is indeed fascinating and totally unseen without great work and efforts like this and some of the other macro stuff posted here.
I, personally, had no idea how fascinating.
Thanks,
Wilt

The image has great interest, made even more so with your great supporting info.
On close inspection, one can see the flies environment contained within the bubble..
Even some blue sky, cool
Well done!

Another stunning shot, especially considering how sharp the details are on something this small. The note is really informative - I'm not sure about the wing conditioner theory, I would have assumed that cleaning wings was essential on something this small as even the smallest motes of dust are going to affect his aerodynamics?
Cheers.....Mark
