I used the crop guide overlay in the crop tool for CS5 to align for the rule of thirds... as close as I could get to horizontal and vertical lines intersecting with the subjects in the image. I should probably use this tool more often since I crop most of the pictures I take and the crop tool appears in the rule of thirds mode when I crop.

There was for a period of time a number of pianos variously painted to be found around downtown locations in Winnipeg. This is the only one I can still find at a local mall. I was there this week listening to a musician playing Imagine by John Lennon to an audience of one. It put me in mind of this image of the trio clustered around the pianist.

Yes cropping does work to apply the rule Jan,
